Benedict Bancor, second son of Áine Bancor and proud member of the Bancor-Love family, hates storms. Which is quite strange, since the Bancor kids usually are very fond of those. Specially his older brother, Scanlon.
But the fact remains that, of all six of them, Benedict is the only one who is not, in fact, half shapeshifter. Benny is mostly a fairy, actually. A garden fairy, like his mother. And, as a garden fairy, he's very fond of gardens. And forests. All all those places he couldn't go to because it was raining so much even fish were scared of going outside.
So of course he was in the library instead, all snuggled up in a lot of blankets reading his favorite books while hoping uselessly that the rain would stop. No one bothered him in the library, so Tia wasn't there with him. It made him feel guilty sometimes, how much it bothered his little sister when people disturbed him... He wasn't used to being alone, growing up with so many siblings, plus his aunt and uncle and Uncle Nate's kids, plus Noll and Toby... It's really a big family. But Benny was ok with being alone.
He was debating whether or not he should go looking for Tia when a thunder decided to scare the death out of him, and he let out a not-so-manly scream.

Unlike popular belief, Hilary was not a bad student. Not necessarily. Well OK, so he might (he probably will) fail one subject, but in everything else, Hilary is excelling, or close to it. So, in order not to fail Inhuman Creature Anatomy, the only redheaded Sinclair finds himself in the library searching for the book. He knows the person that had it before he did, and he doesn't really what she of all people needed it for, but OK. He heard she has returned it to library.
And he was there, but book wasn't. And he was really deep into the library, mind you, and wished the storm would wash off all of the books from here except, of course, the one he needed. No such luck though.
Then he heard somebody-- screaming, whimpering, just letting out sounds of fright? He couldn't be too sure, but he followed the sound anyway, just to check, he told himself, if everything was right. And then noticed Benedict Bancor sat at the far corner.
"Do you happen to have seen--" - Hilary thought, for once, that he might sound selfish and it was really rather rude to ask that - "Are you alright?" - he opted for instead, approaching the other and sitting at the chair opposite of the fairy boy.

Benny, who had his head in his arms, looked up when someone approached him. Then, of course, he blushed the way only he could when he noticed the one approaching wasn't one of his siblings and was, therefore, someone who was probably going to mock him for being 'such a baby'. The fairy was starting to wish he had Tia, or maybe Ahana with him.
But, well, it was Hilary Sinclair. Maybe he wouldn't mock him, since their parents were friends? Still, Benny was wary. He used one of his books to half hide from the vampire.
"Wha--", oh yes, Benny, nice start! "Um, yes, I'm just, you know.", he said, hidding more behind the book. "The s-storm."
He was glad, though, that the other boy actually asked. Made him feel like they were friends.
Benny didn't have many friends. Even though Toby and Noll were everyone's childhood friends, they mostly sticked to Scanlon. Ahana was happy on her own. Tia had Margaux (who was sorta Benny's friend too, but they didn't really talk much!) The twins had each other, and were happy on their own. Benny sighed. He wanted a friend of his own, one he didn't need to share with his huge family.
Wow ok, he wasn't usually like this. But he was lonely without Tia, and Noll... Honestly, he's been hoping those two would get together.
Maybe Hilary...- no, the sinclair boy probably was just curious. Who'd want to be Benny's friend, after all? He was just the whiny baby fairy boy.
Benny realized he had zoned out when another thunder made him shriek again.
He blushed more and positively dissappeared behind the book.

"The storm?" - Hilary's eyebrows rose and he looked out a bit. He knew people were afraid of storms (Lily, but she wouldn't admit it for her immortal life), but he personally never understood why. It didn't matter. Vampire licked his lips, like he often did when thinking of what to do, and in the end, he decided that he should sit down.
"Hey can I--" - he was already sitting by the time he finished the sentence - "... join you, perhaps?"
He knew people didn't read in library, not actually, they did some things Hilary was more familiar with, and he didn't want to think about it. So this basically meant he was curious about the other boy already. He decided not to mention the storm at all - why add salt to the open wound?
"I'm Hilary Sinclair, by the way. I think we already know each other but you know- a formal introduction is in order and so." - he said, grinning widely. He knew Benny, although he didn't notice him all that much. Benny was the shy kid and Hilary never liked how annoying his fathers' friends and their children were. He disliked people prying in his personal life, at least the part that he didn't fault, and they did just that. He was sure it wasn't on purpose. It was probably normal for them to know everything about each other. Hell, Aunt Sylvia did that and he got a glass knocked over on his head for telling her to stop.
Another thunder and the boy jumper, Hilary's head reaching out to him almost immediately.
"You ok?" - he still had a small smile on.

Ok, uh. Benedict didn't know how to react to Hillary suddenly joining him. Benny wasn't really a people person, and sticked to his siblings even when the Sinclairs were around, but if he wasn't mistaken, the red-headed who just offered (imposed?) his company was the one who never stuck around for long. Why was he just casually sitting there, surely he came to the library for something, right? Something that wasn't making small talk with his sort-of-not-really childhood could-be friend.
Speaking of small talk, Benny realised, yet again, that he had zoned out, and was now staring at Sinclair with a confused expression. He was quick to try and find a way to reply that didn't involve going so red he could be mistaken for a tomato.
(He failed.)
"I-I, uh, yes, I'm Benedict, yes. Bancor." He stuttered, posing his hand for a handshake. "You're Uncle Nate's son, uh, right?", he said, embarassed and trying not to fail at everything.
Until there was another thunder, and he was cought by surprise again. Damn it, why couldn't he just enjoy the storm like ye good olde Bancor-Loves? No, he had to jump and shriek like a rabbit. Nice. He sighed.
"I'm yes, I, just.", he finished lamely. "What are you doing here, anyway.", the fairy asked, half-hiding behind his book again.
