Her life was good. Her life was happy. Her life was free. Her life was- . . . Well, Kayla couldn't think of another word to describe it, but it was another good word.
Sure, she'd never been good at using different words to describe things. She'd remembered bringing home bad report cards from school, always showing that she was failing English. Her parents had punished her severely for it, calling her stupid and dumb and- no, she didn't particularly want to think about that.
The blue haired woman was skipping down the halls of the Academy, heading towards the swimming pool. She had just been to visit her brother in his cute little bookshop, because he never went anywhere else. Silly Victor, hadn't he spent enough time inside when they lived with their parents? He had made some excuse about wanting to keep the shop open as much as possible to attract business so he could save up to travel the world and blah blah blah. It meant that he had no social life outside that one friend of his - Irene, wasn't it? And she only came in now again for a book.
It all seemed silly to Kayla, staying inside and staying still all the time. With the Academy as big as it was, and then Alegra and Kegan and everything else around them adding to the space, why should anyone want to stay still ever? There was so much to see, so much to do, so much to experience, so much to buy, so much to try, it was impossible to even try to think why anyone would stay still. No wonder Victor wondered if she if she had ADHD.
But that was okay. She felt good today. She wanted to start doing handstands down the corridors, but maybe that wasn't the most appropriate thing to do as Academy Staff. She was proud of her position, and even prouder that she managed to get a job in the first place. Even Kayla knew that she was a ditsy girl, and she couldn't do much. But at least she could talk to people and take orders!
