It was that time of year again, where all the darkest corners are lit with red tinted candles and the blackened walls are brightened with hints of red tinsel dotted here and there, all resulting to a colossal pine tree at the core of the dorms, bringing all the festive messiness together in one jolly, bright sight.
The flickering candles set the room aglow, shining off the passing students, whether they be friend or foe, it seemed all were aglow with the time of year.
Hunched over sofas and chair, groups a creatures laughed and joked, were busy studying or wrapping trinkets or simply calling home but all were occupied in their own bubble.
Damien was no exception. Hunched over a small box, he pulled, tucked and taped brightly decorated paper around it, the ripping sound of the tape broke through conversations and the crumpling of the paper aggravated the busy passers by, but he seemed completely blocked from the world around him, only focusing on this small box in his lap.
The look of concentration on his face showed he was a new to the 'Christmas' concept or the wrapping of gifts. Still, he tried. Taping over ripped corners and flattening the crinkles until he deemed it fit for purpose. Placing the present next to him, he then grabs a small postal tag and a bow.
Writing a name in swirled lettering he flicked the tag so it could hang free and done. The look of relief was overwhelming for the boy, his grin lit up like a Christmas tree.
Maybe I should just, he thought, looking at the tree standing in the middle of the hall, its tip so tall it couldn't be seen from his position, its branches littered with a rainbow of bows and trinkets and baubles, a present would fit perfectly he insisted to himself, standing and walking over to its base.
Looking around at the other people in the room he quickly slid his present and went back to work on his next gift, with the look of concentration returning to his face.
(I'm sorry, I'm not good at this OTL Christmasy thread started, have fun x)
